Our old house

About two years ago we were fortunate enough to be able to buy a house built around 1910. It had already been in the family for approximately 35 years. It is a large house and our family is not wealthy nor were they particularly handy so the house needs a great deal of work.

It is a wonderful place and I do love the house. We feel most fortunate to be able to live here and to preserve and improve this wonderful place. It was built out of materials that are no longer available and is of a quality that is not seen today.

Most of the houses built today are of what I consider low-quality and are all the same. This one is quite unique.

This blog is not a how to as I am no expert in home repair. The blog is simply our story or saga of owning this home and of the work that we do to it. It is written in the hope that I may pay back at least a little bit for all of the wonderful ideas and tips I have learned from other people's blogs.
