Shifty and the Great Escape

Shifty never liked being confined. Walls are just a challenge to him. As soon as he was locked up he began sniffing about for the way out. He is a sly one and is careful to work on his escape only when the guards are not looking.

Shifty has escaped from every joint he was locked up in. If fact, that is how he ended up in this joint. He made a clean break and was on the lamb for some time. Things were rough on the outside but he liked his freedom. It was too good to be true and the law eventually caught up with him.

Then it was to the big house for him. It was a loud and miserable place full of all kinds of undesirable characters.

That was where we found him. Locked in a cage for almost the whole day. We looked over his record. His rap sheet was not spotless by any means but suprisingly it was clean of violent offenses.

We talked it over and decided to give him a chance. This joint is much easier than the big house. All he has to do is follow the rules and get along with the population. The yard is much better here than at the big house and he can access it just about anytime he wants.

Shifty has mostly walked the line but he is not exactly a model inmate. He has growled at some of the smaller guards, has stolen food, and has been in a few scrapes with another inmate.

The growling could get him sent back to the big house but we have instituted a training program for the guards and have him on watch.

His big offense it escape. He will take advantage of any guard that slacks off. He will bolt out the door if he gets a chance. He has escaped several times but we got him before he got far. His favorite escape method is tunneling. He is a fast one and has tunneled out several times.

This has caused us to add greater security measures. We have essentially turned this place into the Rock.

Here is the offender.

Here is the inproved perimeter fence.

We considered using wire and we had these rocks laying around so the solution was free.

Shifty got out again.

He got out again because one of the rocks was too small and he was able to move it. This will likely be a battle for sometime to come.

Another escape from an unsecured area of the fence.
